Silly Little Girls

As I have said before, the main purpose of this blog is so that I can have a place to keep up with all of the funny little things that Ava and Macy do and say. So, I have a few things to document.

They love to play mommy and baby. It differs on who is the mommy and who is the baby. They are pretty good about taking turns on this. They also play daddy/baby, teacher/student, dance teacher/dance student, and owner/puppy dog. Their favorite part of playing these things is being able to "punish" each other and put each other in time out. : ) Sometimes one is the mommy and one is the daddy and I get to be the baby. This is usually a win/win because the baby is supposed to lay down and take a nap. Perfect!  Last week they were playing mommy/baby by themselves and I caught this:

This is Ava pushing Macy in the stroller for baby dolls.

Then the next day, I saw this:
Macy is in the baby doll carrier.

Another funny moment happened yesterday. This is how the conversation went:

Me (to both girls): You need to pick up your toys on the floor in the playroom (for the 18th time that morning).
Ava:  But we didn't make that mess.
Me: Oh? Well then who did?
Macy (to me):  I think I saw YOU in there playing with the toys.
Me (trying to control my laughter):  I think we need to talk about the difference in telling a story and telling the truth!

We actually have recently started to teach them about telling fibs and what that means but it is a hard concept to teach an "innocent" little 3 year old. Ben tried a while back to tell them the story about the boy who cried wolf, but it didn't go so well. Somehow what they took from that story was that there was a creature called a "cry wolf" that they thought was kind of like the boogey man.

Silly girls!!

House Update

The house is coming along so well. I think we are getting close to being done!! The tentative completion date is July 22nd. Here are some pics that our realtor sent to us today. I just couldn't wait to share.

Brick and stone are done.

The bars on the staircase are wrought iron. That is plastic covering them.

They installed the granite in the kitchen yesterday! I am in love with the kitchen cabinets. They are even prettier than I thought they would be.

This is a view of the dining room.

This is the playroom. There are built-in shelves on both sides of that bench in front of the window.

So excited and ready to move in!!!

Grandparents Galore

We spent the week after the wedding in Arkansas. Ben is working in LR for most of this month so it made sense for the girls and I just to hang out in AR after the wedding. And it was nice to have some downtime. This is downtime for me... not for the grandparents. I had a whole week of no cooking, no cleaning, and four people that are more than happy to bathe, dress, feed, and entertain the girls. We went to Little Rock first and spent a few days. The first day Joyce and I took the girls to The Wonder Place. This is such a fun place in Little Rock and Ava and Macy are the perfect age for this place right now. They love pretending and exploring.

On Tuesday, we went swimming with Grammy and Pawpaw. This picture is really blurry but I think it is cute. It is Ava riding on Pawpaw's back in the pool.

On Wednesday, Grammy and Pawpaw took the girls to McDonalds to eat and play while I had some "me" time and also packed everything up so that we could head to Monticello. When we got to Monticello on Wednesday evening, we went to dinner with my grandparents and my parents to celebrate my grandparents 60th wedding anniversary.

On Thursday, mom and I took Ava and Macy to their first movie in a movie theatre. We actually stayed the whole movie which totally exceeded my expectations. We watched Kung Fu Panda 2 and they really seemed to enjoy it!  We got a huge popcorn and a huge Sprite and they were set. The only mishap was that Ava dropped the HUGE sprite which was barely even sipped out of and it went all over the floor. Luckily, they had free refills so we just got another one but it made a huge sticky mess. Other than needing a few reminders to whisper, they did really well for their first movie theatre experience.

Ava wouldn't take a picture and I don't know why Macy is making this goofy face but I had to document their first trip to the theatre.

Got a good one outside the theatre after the movie.

My dad found 2 turtles and brought them home for the girls. I think this might have been the highlight of the trip for them.

We went swimming again on Friday and then went to the Pink Tomato Festival in Warren on Friday night. They had a full out carnival which was HOT but fun for the girls.

There was a band playing so they got out in the middle of the street to dance.

The little boy in the picture below came up to Macy and asked her to dance. Actually he said, "Will you be my partner?" Macy just stared at him for about 30 seconds and then ran away. It was pretty funny.

We had a great fun filled week in Arkansas. We headed back to Fort Worth on Saturday and then Mom and Dad came to visit us on Wednesday and just left today. Hooray for Grandparents!

Mr. and Mrs. Cockrell

No, this post is not about my grandparents or my parents. It is about my brother, Craig, and his new wife, Jacqueline... the new Mr. and Mrs. Cockrell. Their wedding was on June 4th and Ava, Macy, and I were all lucky enough to play a part in the wedding. Everything about the wedding was elegant, classy, beautiful, and FUN! I was an emotional mess for three days straight! There is just something about seeing your baby brother all grown up, and so happy, and so crazy in love that just gets to you! I never expected to be so emotional but it was definitely happy tears. I was (and am) just SO happy for them.  We started the wedding weekend on Thursday afternoon after work. I think this may have been another reason why I was emotional. Thursday was my last day to work at Poynter Elementary... EVER. Since we are moving, I will be leaving Crowley ISD and it was very sad to say goodbye to some people that I have grown quite close to over the past three years. I had planned on leaving school at 3:30 on Thursday but at 4:15 one of my friends came in and said, "What in the world are you still doing here and why are you nowhere near ready to leave?!?" I wasn't even close to being done so she started throwing stuff in boxes and loading my car for me while I finished wrapping up a few paperwork things. I left school about 4:45 and  ran home, unloaded my car, reloaded my car with the things I had packed to take to Arkansas, swung by daycare and picked up the girls, and we were on our way to the wedding. Ben had worked in Little Rock that week so he just met us in Fayetteville. We ended up getting to town at about midnight on Thursday.

I met up with mom and my cousin Lizzie to head to the Bridesmaid's Luncheon on Friday morning. The luncheon was so nice. It was at Jacqueline's parents house in her mom's beautiful backyard. Mrs. Susan  is an amazing gardner and has flowers for days in her backyard so it was a nice setting for the luncheon.

Friday night was the Rehearsal at the church and the Rehearsal Dinner at the Botanical Gardens in Fayetteville. Mom did an awesome job with this. It was very elegant and so pretty with the garden in the background. The food was great too. It was so fun to have ALL of my family in one place at one time this weekend. I guess the only other time that both sides of my family were together at once was my wedding, but I didn't really get to enjoy everyone then.

My friend, Andrea, was SO sweet to keep Ava and Macy for me during the Rehearsal Dinner. The girls were flower girls so they needed to be at the actual rehearsal but I did not want to chase them aroud the Botanical Gardens all night so I called in the troops. And the girls had a blast. Here are some pics that Andrea sent me of their fun night.

She even put them in their pajamas!

Saturday was Wedding Day!! Since I was a Bridesmaid, I went out to Jacqueline's parents house around 11:00 and spent the day getting ready with the other Bridesmaids.  Even though I promised my mom that I would take pictures of us getting ready, I don't have any. In fact, I did not take any pictures all weekend. ZERO. NOT A SINGLE ONE. How crazy is that? The few pictures that I do have are borrowed from other people.

We did Bridesmaid pictures at Jacqueline's parents house and then went straight to Carnall Hall for family pictures. Because I was out all day, I had to totally trust other people to get Ava and Macy ready. I wanted them to be the cutest flower girls ever so it really took a lot for me to give up control. : ) Ben was not in the wedding, so his job for the weekend was to be in charge of  Ava and Macy. Obviously, I do not trust him to do their hair, so once again I had to call in the troops. Okay, so here is my shout out to everyone that helped with the girls on Saturday: Ben, his parents, my parents, Aunt Paula, Aunt Di, Lizzie, Joni, Candice, Jon, and Sara. It truly takes a village!! I am sure there are others that helped but I just don't know about it. Because of all of these people (especially Lizzie, Joni, and Candice), they were the cutest flower girls ever.

Flower Girls

Striking a pose for the camera

The wedding ceremony was really nice and the reception was beautiful. Ava and Macy did their job and walked down the aisle without any problems. The photographer and videographer were kind of sitting/laying on the ground taking pictures as people walked down the aisle. So when the flower girls came down, Ava stopped walking and just looked at them like, "why are you laying on the ground?" Then, when she figured out they were taking pictures, she posed for a couple of quick shots and then headed down the rest of the aisle to finish up her job. Pretty cute! The girls were at the reception for just a minute. Long enough to get in a couple of dances and raid the candy table that they had set up for favors for the guests. Thankfully, Ben's parents were there to help out on Saturday night and took the girls upstairs to our hotel room and put them to bed and stayed with them so that Ben and I could enjoy the reception.
Here are a few more pictures of the weekend.

Congratulations to the new Mr. and Mrs. Cockrell! Thank you for letting us be a part of your special day. We enjoyed celebrating with you!
