Wedding Weekend Number 2

I had really hoped with this blog that I could do quick updates often instead of looking back and writing about things that happened a few weeks ago but that just hasn't worked the way I planned. So, here is a post about our second wedding of the summer!

The weekend after we moved we headed out to Atlanta for my cousin's wedding. It was flower girl "performance" #2 for the girls this summer. My mom came into town on Monday (two days after the move) to help with unpacking and then on Thursday the four of us (Ava, Macy, mom, and me) flew to Atlanta. Ben flew in on Friday after work. The girls did great on the plane! On the way out there I sat with Macy and mom sat with Ava and then we switched on the way back. We packed backpacks full of snacks, books, and things to keep them occupied and it went really well. Even the security which I was worried about. Luckily, the lines weren't too long because waiting and standing still in a line is definitely not a strength for them. This was actually their second time on a plane but the first time they don't remember. I think they were about 18 months.
This was on the shuttle from the parking lot to the terminal. She could hardly contain her excitement.

Ava Super excited about take off.

Macy before take off. A bit of a nervous smile.

The pilots let them come into the cockpit and take a picture after the flight on the way home. They also gave them wings to pin on their shirt.

We got into Atlanta late Thursday afternoon so we went to dinner and went swimming at the hotel. Friday we went to the Georgia Aquarium which was big fun! It was such a cool place. I think I enjoyed it as much as the girls did.

If only they were always this sweet.

We had the rehearsal dinner Friday night and Ben and I got to enjoy some time out with the "young people" while mom kept the girls. Saturday was the big day and it was such a fun time. The wedding started at 5:30 and the reception was planned to end at 11:00. I knew that there was no way that Ava and Macy would make it that long so I expected that we would have to leave the reception early but they proved me wrong! They danced the night away. They got a bit antsy right before the wedding started but other than that they were great the whole night. They walked down the aisle and threw their little flowers just like they were supposed to do. They sat and ate dinner with the big people and then they danced, danced, and danced some more.

This pic is super blurry but it is A and M dancing with two of the groomsmen. I think they were smitten with these boys. : )

On Sunday, we went to the Braves game and had great seats. Then, we went to Aunt Paula's house (mother of the groom) and spent the night. Uncle Jeff cooked out burgers and Ava and Macy got to go on their first golf cart ride. We rode to the neighborhood pond and fed the ducks. We got to see ducks, fish, turtles, and a deer!

We headed home and back to the real world on Monday. It was such a fun trip and a beautiful wedding. Congratulations to Jon and Candice!

Home Sweet Home

We are finally moved in and settled into our new house. We have been here for a couple of weeks but I am just now feeling like I have my head above water and feel somewhat settled. The bad news about that is that I start back to work tomorrow so I am sure I will get that "swamped" feeling again soon. That's okay though, because so far we are LOVING our new place and I have a feeling that I am going to really like my new job too.

We have two little trees in our front yard but they are kind of pitiful looking right now due to this extreme heat and drought. We have had 38 CONSECUTIVE days (and counting) of temperatures over 100 degrees. It's miserable. Yesterday we went to the pool and I thought to myself, "it feels kind of nice out here... much cooler than it has been." I checked my phone and saw that it was 99 degrees. That's bad... when 99 feels like relief. The worse part is that I don't think it is going to let up anytime soon. Anyway, enough about the weather.... back to the house. : )

I decided to wait to add pictures of the bedrooms and the playroom. We are going to paint the girls' rooms and do some things to the playroom and then I'll post those pics. We are also getting new living room furniture so I'll post that later too.

I need to say a quick thank you to all of those that helped us with the moving process. Thank you to my cousin, Lizzie, who gave up a weekend and flew to Dallas from Little Rock to entertain the girls. She came out the weekend before the move so that Ben and I could finish packing up, do our final walk-through of the house with the builder, run some last minute errands, and shop for a refrigerator without two little ones in tow. They played dress up and manicure/pedicure for hours. Lizzie was such a good sport and let Ava and Macy paint her toenails and put makeup on her. Yikes! Check out the shimmery eyeshadow all over her forehead in this pic.

One of our regular sitters, Kat, kept the girls during the closing. My friend, Stephanie, kept them on actual moving day.  And finally, my mom came a couple of days after the move and helped with unpacking and also helped entertain the girls while I unpacked and finished everything up at the house in Fort Worth. There is no way we could have made this transition so smoothly without all of our helpers so thank you to all of you!!

I am way behind on things I want to put on here. Look for upcoming posts on swim lessons, our trip to Atlanta, and Ava and Macy's second flower girl "performance" of the summer!
