San Francisco Treat

Ben recently found out that he was going to San Francisco for work. Neither of us have ever been to that part of California, so we decided to take advantage of the opportunity and head out there a couple of days before his conference to have an adult-only vacay. Grammy and Pawpaw came to our house on Wednesday to help with the girls and Ben and I flew out Friday after work. We were supposed to leave at 5:20 and get to Cali at 7:15 (west coast time) right in time for a nice dinner. We stayed in Napa Valley so we had a quaint little restaurant picked out for when we arrived. Well... After 3 delays and boarding and deplaning TWICE, we didn't leave DFW until 9:00! By the time we got to San Francisco, rented a car, and drove to Napa it was almost 1am which was almost 3am our time! We had both worked a full day Friday before leaving so we were exhausted!!! The good news though was that we could actually sleep in the next day. No little munchkins waking us up at 6:30 in the morning. : )
On Saturday, we went to 4 vineyards and did wine tastings and a tour at one of them. It was fabulous! The wine was great, the weather was great, the scenery was beautiful. I can't wait to go back! We had a nice dinner on Saturday night that was delicious. I love my girls but I appreciate every single bite of a dinner when they're not around. It is so nice to eat slowly and not have to say, "stay in your chair" 50 million times while eating. Ben planned our day in Napa with the help of a friend who has been often so I have to give him props because it was a perfect day!
Sunday we drove into San Francisco to see the sights. I have a friend from college that lives there so she gave us some tips on what to do. We ate brunch at a yummy restaurant then drove around to some of the famous spots in SF. Coit tower, Lombard Street, Ghirardelli square, and Fishermans Wharf. We took an hour long boat tour around the bay to see the Golden Gate Bridge, The Bay Bridge, Alcatraz and some other things. It was a little cold and rainy but it was still a good time. San Francisco is an amazing city and really unlike any place I have ever been. I flew home Sunday evening and Ben stayed to work until Wednesday. It was a quick trip but I feel like we really hit all of the major sights and had a fabulous time.

You could see the fog sitting over the valley. This picture doesn't do it justice but it was really cool.

And of course, Ava and Macy were well taken care of and having a blast with Grammy and Pawpaw. They got to skip school on Friday so they had 3 days of nonstop fun. They went to the acquarium, the mall, the park (twice), the ice cream shop, out to eat Mexican food (the girls fave), and McDonalds..... just to name a few. So fun for the girls to have time with their grandparents.
